FROGNERSETEREN AND NORDMARKA
Nordmarka is the excersise ground of the locals. People come here to hike the trails in the summer time, either using their feet or mountain bikes. In winter time they go skiing. After their hikes they may go to Frognerseter Cafeteria and relax with hot cocoa and apple cake.
To get here one takes the subway train to Frognerseteren. The view of the city and the fjord down under is impressing. Nordmarka has an amazing quality of making the loads of passengers scatter quickly, and you do not have to walk very far away from the station area to feel like you are totally alone.
If you come in late summer, early fall, you can go berry picking. Freshly picked blueberries is an all time favorite. In Norway anyone can pick berries anywhere, regardless of who owns the ground. This goes for wild berries and not cultivated berries of course.
Before you go back down to the city, you can enjoy a sandwich at the Frognerseteren Cafe or a better dinner in the restaurant. The restaurant is one of the best in Oslo.
